A simple extension to WhatsApp that prompts users for a regular check-in on their current mood or “vibe.”
Create an awareness campaign empowering young adults to solve mental health challenges through WhatsApp.
Only 45% of Gen Z'ers are likely to report “very good” or “excellent” mental
health which is significantly less than the adults in their lives.
However, Gen Z’ers are also more likely to recognize signs of mental health challenges in themselves or a loved one. This trend is evident on apps that combine content creation with social networking, where young people have created digital soapboxes for mental health awareness. But these platforms often fail to protect users from bullies that abuse the shroud of online anonymity. Fear of judgment discourages authentic self-expression.
WhatsApp’s more intimate approach can empower users to explore complex emotions in their peer-to-peer dialogues. With some thoughtful and intentional modifications to the UI, WhatsApp can nurture the trust between users necessary for starting conversations on their mental health - before it’s too late.
Introducing Vibe Check: an extension to WhatsApp that prompts users for a regular check-in on their current mood - or “vibe.” This simple extension helps users communicate their struggles and their joys while establishing healthy boundaries.
